- Manage the hotel P&L and ensure budgets and financial targets are achieved.
- Monitor key performance indicators and implement action plans where improvements are required.
- Identify opportunities to grow revenue across accommodation, food & beverage, events and other hotel services.
- Work closely with sales and revenue teams to maximise occupancy, average room rate and overall commercial performance.
- Monitor guest feedback, reviews and satisfaction scores and implement improvements where necessary.
- Oversee all key departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance and Events.
- Ensure strong communication and collaboration between departments.
- Maintain high standards across room presentation, public areas, food and beverage facilities and overall hotel appearance.
- Ensure staffing levels are appropriately managed against occupancy and trading forecasts.
- Control labour costs while maintaining the service levels required by the business.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training and retention across the hotel.
- Coach and develop department heads and managers through regular feedback, performance reviews and development plans.
- Identify future talent and support succession planning and internal progression.
- Effectively manage employee relations, performance and any areas of underperformance.
- Ensure the hotel is fully compliant with all relevant Health & Safety, fire safety, food safety, licensing and employment legislation.
- Oversee maintenance requirements and ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
- Ensure appropriate security and risk-management procedures are maintained.
- Build strong relationships with guests, suppliers, local businesses and key stakeholders.
- Support local sales, marketing and community initiatives to strengthen the hotel's position within its market.
- Lead by example during busy trading periods and maintain a strong presence throughout the hotel.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Hotel General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Operations Manager or senior hotel leader.
- Strong experience within a full-service hotel or similarly complex hospitality environment.
- Experience managing multiple departments and department heads.
- A proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing P&L, budgets, labour costs and KPIs.
- Experience driving occupancy, revenue and profitability.
- A strong understanding of rooms operations, food & beverage and guest services.
- Excellent people-management skills, including recruitment, training, performance management and employee relations.
- A strong understanding of hotel Health & Safety and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- The ability to analyse performance data and make commercially sound decisions.
- A proactive and solutions-focused leadership style.
- The ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience.
- Flexibility to work across a 7-day operation, including evenings, weekends and peak trading periods.
The Ideal Candidate
This position would suit a commercially driven hospitality professional who enjoys combining people leadership, guest experience and operational excellence.
You will be someone who leads from the front, develops strong managers and takes pride in creating a hotel where both guests and employees want to return.
You will be equally comfortable reviewing financial performance and revenue opportunities as you are walking the hotel floor, speaking with guests, supporting your team or resolving an operational challenge.
For an experienced hotel leader looking for their next opportunity, this is an excellent chance to take full ownership of a successful operation and make a genuine impact on its people, performance and guest experience.
